An Email Saying Your Email Arrived

Outlook offers this seldom-used feature that allows the email sender to request an "email received" notification. Basically, the person who sent the email gets an email saying, "the person you sent your email to opened their email." But, for it to work, the person who initially received the email has to agree to send the that notification. I've never sent one. I can't figure out why, but they annoy me. It's kind of like when you call someone's house phone and their kid answers and asks, "May I ask who's calling?" Kid, one day you're going to get an answer you don't like and you weren't expecting. And it will probably be from me, and I'll be lying about being a detective coming to put your father in jail for the rest of his life.
