The greatest danger to my life are people who stop at green lights. I'm sitting at the intersection at a red light waiting. They pull up and stop so, without looking, I assume that their light has turned red. I start pedaling my bike into the intersection. Then I begin to think, "Well, this oncoming traffic seems like it's going too fast to stop safely." That's when I look and see I still have a red light, and this one idiot in the middle oncoming lane is stopped, but the cars on both sides of him are screaming towards me. In that split second I always remember the annoying saying, "When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME." Then I ponder how fragile our system of red and green lights and people obeying them are. Then the cars usually slow down and I wave while getting out of their way.
