The Big Game, Show, or Whatever You Want to Call It
I'm torn. I want everyone to have the day off after the Super Bowl, but only because I think we should all have more days off work, not because I think the Super Bowl is all that important. The game has become Sports Christmas, its story lines winding up weeks before the game, and let's be honest, no one besides people from a couple states and gamblers care about the outcome of the game. It's on too late, the halftime is too long, and there are way too many commercials. The only reason I watch the game is because it's a social event. It's the one Sunday a year that it's acceptable to stay late at my friend's house drinking cheap light beer and hoping that a streaker runs onto the field. And, if I'm being honest, it's nice to have a day off after nights like that.
