The Case for Parties
The best aspect of having a party (besides seeing all your friends without having to leave your house) is the leftovers. Everyone always over-buys for parties, and people always bring things over. You can live off a party for a week, but you have to be strategic about. The day after the party you eat all the desserts and dishes people made, and you drink any open bottles of wine. Sandwiches are good until the second day, providing you're willing to put up with wilty lettuce. Then you can feed on the cheese, olives, and bread for a good day or two, and you concentrate on drinking any leftover beer. And for the next month you can periodically open you liquor cabinet to gaze in wonder at all the new bottles you've acquired. I don't know why I don't have parties every weekend.
