Few people trust themselves to cut their own hair, but almost everyone who has a beard cuts it themselves. I was trying to figure out why. I suppose that you can see your entire beard, as opposed to your head, so you have better visibility on the operation. Also, most people don't have beards so it's kind of a moot point, and those that do just buzz them with clippers. And there's the frequency factor. No one wants to get a haircut every week, but you'd have to get your beard trimmed about that often. Plus if you're running separate places for haircuts and beard trimming, you have to dedicate so much time that it's like you've picked up a new hobby. And for some reason, "getting my beard trimmed" sounds like a pretty pathetic hobby, so I guess that's why.
