One of my old college professors was among the handful of people to be invited to participate in one of the earliest iterations of the internet. He did so and shared files with other universities and corresponded by email. And he hated the load times and waiting around with such a writhing passion that he swore he'd never use the internet again. I met him in the internet boom era and he still hadn't returned to using email. He must have been one of the last educated holdouts, even then. What I love is that this man was one of the lucky few to stand on the precipice of a major new age in information technology and all he did was say, "This sucks." And I also love that my university then hired him to teach me.
Wise Professor
