I brought three bottles of tequila back from Mexico in my luggage. This is the maximum amount you're allowed to bring in by law; I looked it up. I use a huge messenger bag as my checked luggage, and one of the bottles I was legally smuggling back was a tall ornate piece of work. After two transfers and about 20 hours of travel, I opened my luggage at 8am upon arrival home to discover glass shards mixed among my clothing. If ever you're looking for a way to wake up quickly and lack coffee at home, I recommend dumping a bottle of tequila into a suitcase and then sticking your head inside of it. It might also make you throw up, but that comes with the territory. Most of the broken glass was in the black plastic bag I had the bottle in, so I pulled out that entire bag and tossed it in the trash compactor. It wouldn't be until hours after I woke up from my nap that I'd remember I also put all the gifts I'd brought home for people in that bag.
