I'm heading to the Caribbean in about six months, just in time for hurricane season. I saved a lot of money booking a location that has a reasonable potential to be underwater when I'm there. It was the first time I've ever bought travel insurance for a vacation. Having not purchased it before, I was surprised by the cost, and I suspect that if I'm unable to make the trip due to weather, the company will find a way to get out of paying me anyway. It cost so much to buy, that now I'm feeling like it's a shame if I don't use it. That's not a good line of thought, but it's not like my lines of thought have anything to do with the weather.
