Bungee jumping might be the oddest sport in the world. Not the actual act of bungee jumping, though I suppose that's a bit odd, too. But rather the fact that bungee jumping used to seem like a cool thing to do and now it's hard for me to imagine anything more embarrassing. But how did this oddball trendy sport get mixed up with an era in the same way Zubaz and Hypercolor shirts did? I would argue that the sport was too closely associated with the word "Extreme" back in the early 1990s, and when that word became a punch line it took the pseudo sport down with it. Thank god mountain biking and rock climbing had identities outside of the Extreme Sports World otherwise they could have been similarly tarnished.
