Lining Up a Job
Back when I was in college trying to decide what to do with my life and fixing skis for a living, I had two bosses who would work on different evenings. At the end of the day I would have to make a note of how much work I'd done on my time card, and at the end of each week I'd be paid for all the work I did. One boss would walk to the basement and count all the skis I'd worked on that day before signing my time card, and the other one would sign it without question. In fact, the second one would look at my card during lean times and say, "Rocky, I wish I could just add a zero to this for you," and then give me a knowing nod. That I never took him up on it convinced me I should not go into any kind of banking job.
