The shoe store where I worked in middle school was right next to a huge Ben Franklin craft store. These are places that sell glitter, poster board, paint, yarn and anything else you've used during craft hour at summer camp. Perhaps you won't be shocked to hear that this craft store went out of business at about the time I started work at the shoe store. My benevolent boss went over there on the last day they were open, and he offered all the craft employees jobs selling shoes. It was a nice gesture, and the reason that I worked almost exclusively with women over the age of 80 at my first job.
